Do you think there are too many online social networking sites?
I_am_wierd asked:
Wikipedia has this list of popular social networking sites in the world:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_social_networking_websites
How many more of these sites are going to pop up? I for one, have NEVER signed up for any of these. I’m not some old-tymer that doesn’t know how to use a computer, I’m actually 25 and just finished grad school. But everyone seems to have profiles for Myspace, Facebook, Bebo, Blackplanet, etc…. Do people really have time to set up a profile on all of these sites, and check their accounts each day for new friends, messages, and pokes? How much revenue do the owners of these networking sites actually generate? I’m sure popular ones like Facebook and Myspace get plenty of money from advertisements, but what about the others? Is it really worth it to keep creating these sites? I think the market has been saturated.

What kind of marketing returns could I expect?
Bob S asked:
If I spend $15,000 per month on a marketing firm for PR/media relations and buzz/viral services, what kind of returns could I expect? I am looking for a formula, such as that amount of marketing might equal a given number of visitors to the company’s website (or something along those lines). I realize that it could vary greatly depending on each individual situation, but there have to be some rules of thumb, right? It would be a U.S.-based campaign, covering radio, tv, internet and print, all based on a website in the social landscape that offers completely free access to all users.
